eCOGRA sole independent online gambling testing facility authorised to offer accredited ISO/IEC 27001 certifications for Information Security Management Systems

London 5 April 2017– The UK headquartered online gambling giant bet365 has become the first enterprise to be certified by the accredited testing laboratory eCOGRA for compliance with the important International Standards Organisation ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification forInformation Security Management Systems. The internet gambling group is one of the world’s largest and most respected such businesses, with geographically dispersed operations.

Shaun McCallaghan, Chief Operating Officer at eCOGRA, said that the size and international scope of bet365 operations presented his auditing teams with a significant task, which involved a lengthy and rigorous certification audit across multiple locations. bet365 demonstrated notable commitment to information security and are positioned amongst a handful of online gambling operators that have achieved the prestigious certification.

“It is evident that online gambling regulators are already moving towards requiring license holders and their service providers to obtain ISO/IEC 27001 certification, and jurisdictions such as Czech Republic, Denmark, Great Britain, Portugal, Romania and Spain currently waive certain security auditing requirements if the relevant parties are ISO/IEC 27001 certified, expediting the process and opening up a faster route to market for operators.”

McCallaghan added that to service the increased international demand for this important certification, eCOGRA is currently building on its resources, which currently include Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditors, Auditors and Implementers, to further support its already extensive information security experience and expertise.

eCOGRA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Beveridge congratulated bet365 on achieving the certification and complimented the group on its commitment and cooperation throughout the demanding process of certification.

“eCOGRA is absolutely committed to ensuring it can provide authorised and approved independent testing facilities in all its clients’ desired licensing jurisdictions, and aims to provide a full suite of compliance services, including ISO/IEC 27001 certification, vulnerability and penetration testing, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), along with typical platform and games certification work,” he said.

eCOGRA is the only online gambling test laboratory that is accredited to offer this key ISO certification.

ABOUT ISO/IEC 27001:2013

ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an internationally recognised information security management standard which ensures organisations can apply a framework to business processes to help identify, manage and reduce risks to information security, and considers not only IT but all business operations.

In order to provide ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certifications, eCOGRA obtained ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), a prerequisite for accredited certification bodies in order to prove that they are competent to carry out third-party certifications and audits of ISMS.
